Maybe we didn't even need the plow service after all :)

Last week, for a few days in a row, we finally had some sunny weather and although it was still COLD we made the most of it and played outside. One of the best decisions we've made since moving to Michigan has been to pay for a plow service. For those that are not familiar, after a certain amount of snowfall they come and plow your driveway. Anyways, maybe we didn't need it with such a good shoveler in our family. :)

Another quick story: last week after Luke got out of the bath I asked him to go in his room and get a diaper which he normally does and comes right back with it. So on this day he took quite a while to return so I went in to check and saw the most horrific sight. He had proceeded to poop on the floor and was in the process of trying to stuff the poop down the diaper genie with his bare hands! Ugh. Needless to say we had a lot of cleaning up to do. :)

Happy Monday.

Luke's favorite songs

Luke likes to watch Old MacDonald videos on YouTube sometimes and a few nights ago we caught him in action while he watched. :)

Our weekend getaway

With Michael working a lot of weekends lately we decided to take full advantage of this past weekend where he basically had three days off (he was post-call Friday). He surprised me with a planned trip up to Traverse City, this really neat town about 2.5 hours north on a bay of Lake Michigan. It just happened to be their big WinterFest weekend so there was a lot of fun stuff to see and do, including: a petting zoo, dog sled and pony rides, a chilli cook-off, and awesome snow and ice sculptures all over town. Other than the winter activities we enjoyed eating out at some fun restaurants and Luke got to practice his swimming skills with Michael in the hotel pool.

Despite the COLD we all had a blast and was the perfect weekend away together. I can't wait to go back up there in the summer when it's beach and wine country weather. :)

Hope you all had a Happy Valentine's weekend too.

He's such a big boy

Not sure when it happened but all of a sudden Luke seems sooo big to me. I don't even have a newborn to compare him to yet but he just seems so grown up. I have a running list of things that we need to get on video before he stops doing them but thought I would tell y'all about them until then.

1. Every time he wants to answer yes to something he says "yes..um..hmm." I realized I say um..hmm a lot after he started doing this.
2. He says "how you doing," "what you doing," "watch this," and "what's this" all about 100 times a day.
3. He says "smile" when I get the camera out.
4. He says "amen" after we finish reading any and all books.
5. When he says "thank you" he immediately follows it with "I welcome."
6. He sings Twinkle Twinkle, ABCs, Row Row Row your Boat, Wheels on the Bus, and he counts to 12.

We went to the Children's Museum today and he LOVED the grocery store.

Happy Valentine's Day

I'll admit that Valentine's is a sort of silly holiday but I still have so much fun making things more special now that Luke gets to participate. This is Luke's idea of decorating cookies. :)

Hope you all get to spend special time with your loves this weekend.

He hasn't forgotten his roots

In case you were worried, Luke hasn't forgotten where he comes from. :) He did this all on his own and even let me run upstairs to grab my camera and started yeehaw-ing again as soon as I came back down. I better go get the little cowboy from his nap. I can hear him up there just yelling "hey!"

I couldn't resist

Yesterday was a BIG day at our house. Luke went peepee in the potty for the first time ever and he did a repeat today! We haven't officially committed to potty training just yet but we've decided to just get him geared up for it. He is definitely interested and likes sitting on his potty so yesterday he sat there with a book for a really long time and ended up going! We did a potty dance and celebrated all afternoon and evening and then today I decided to get some underwear just to give him the idea. He wore them this afternoon for a little while until the inevitable happened. I knew it would but it was so cute to see him wear them like a big boy. Did you even have to wonder who he would pick to have on his unders?

So proud!
This was Luke's idea.
